Tank denied to Lavrov plane in Brazil

Date:

Putin’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has completed a flight trip to Brazil. On the outbound flight he had to make a detour and on the way back he was eventually denied kerosene to refuel the plane. The minister was eventually picked up by his Brazilian colleague.

Sergei Lavrov took part in the meeting of foreign ministers in Brazil. The flight out was already complicated. So he had to fly south from Moscow via Turkey and then to Casablanca (Morocco) to avoid the closed European airspace. From North Africa we then went to Havana (Cuba) and Rio de Janeiro.

After the G20 meeting, Lavrov wanted to fly to Brasilia on Thursday to meet President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. A project that was in danger: according to media reports, the kerosene supplier “Vibra Energia” in the capital of Brazil refused to refuel Lavrov’s plane. The company feared it would otherwise be hit by American sanctions due to the war in Ukraine. These also prohibit companies abroad from doing business with people who collaborate with the Kremlin.

Brought back to Brasilia
Lavrov wanted to refuel in Brasilia because there was no longer enough kerosene for the return flight to Moscow. The politician had to abandon his plane, but was lucky that Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira took him with him and flew back to Brasilia. The ‘Bild’ wrote about an ’embarrassing tank blow’ for the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The EU sanctions are also directly aimed at Russian President Vladimir Putin and Sergei Lavrov. You are not allowed to do business with them, they are hit with wealth taxes and are not allowed to enter the EU.
