After traffic chaos on the Brenner highway on Friday due to heavy snowfall, motorists had to show patience again on Saturday. The latest generation climate adhesives blocked the A13 heading south in the morning. The activists received support from the StreetNoise Orchestra.
According to a police spokesperson, about twenty activists occupied the Brenner highway from 10:20 am. Together with the StreetNoise Orchestra, the Klimakleber once again called for something familiar: around 100 km/h on highways throughout Austria, the exit from oil and gas and the implementation of the Climate Council’s goals.
According to the police spokesperson, the protest lasted about 30 minutes, until 10:50 am. The resulting traffic jam then gradually began to clear.
The Tyrolean FPÖ leader calls for harsher punishments
“The climate activists must finally be stopped by all possible means,” Tyrolean FPÖ leader Markus Abwerzger said angrily. ‘Are they still okay? We are dealing with traffic jams for holidaymakers and in Central Tyrol we currently have the greatest risk of avalanches. What would have happened if the emergency services had urgently needed the highway?” He calls on Justice Minister Alma Zadić for tougher sentences.
