Domestic healthcare also suffers from high energy costs. To ensure that patients are properly cared for in an emergency, the Vienna Health Association must dig deep into the stock market – and look for creative ways to cut costs. The first has already been found.

Hospitals are considered real energy giants, consuming enormous amounts of electricity, district heating, air conditioning and gas 24 hours a day. But behind the high energy demands are vital processes: from maintaining sterile conditions to operating highly sensitive medical equipment to ensuring patient comfort. This entails enormous efforts and high costs.
