A boulder weighing about ten tons fell on a road in Abtenau am Vo Glauberg on Sunday evening. A motorist was unable to swerve in time and collided.
A 10-ton boulder broke through the rock protection above the Lammertal national road on Sunday evening and ended up on the road. A driver collided with the fallen rock. The local man (49) and his passenger (47) were injured and the Red Cross took them to the Schwarzenberg Clinic.
At the time of the accident, a cow was in the car’s trailer and it was also injured. The vet took care of the cattle.
The fire brigade responded and the state geologist and roadside assistance also went to the scene of the accident. “The driver was able to get out himself,” said local fire chief Albin Bachler. The fire brigade cleared the area at great expense. The geologist ruled out any further danger. The road was only reopened after five hours.
