Absurd thoughts – Russian MP wants to kidnap NATO minister

Date:

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a number of Western politicians have visited Kiev in solidarity. This gives Russian MP Oleg Morozov his own thoughts. On state television, he suggested kidnapping a NATO defense minister from Ukraine to Moscow.

Perhaps the minister of a NATO country will take a train to Kiev to talk to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Oleg Morozov said in a talk show on state television Rossiya-1. “But he wouldn’t come. He would wake up somewhere in Moscow,” he added.

“You mean we kidnap them?” asked presenter Olga Skabeeva with a smile. “Yeah, and then we’d find out who ordered what, who exactly is responsible for what,” Morosow said. “All war ministers meeting in Kiev should think about what it would be like to wake up in Moscow.”

Morosow was first elected to the Russian parliament in 1993. He is a member of the leading United Russia party.

Since the Russian invasion on February 24, a number of Western politicians have visited the capital Kiev to show their solidarity with Ukraine – including US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who traveled there in April with Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the 97-day war as a special military operation to disarm Ukraine and end what he believes to be the persecution of Russian speakers by Ukrainian ultranationalists. Western states, on the other hand, speak of a war of aggression and crimes against the Ukrainian civilian population.
