In Moscow, where the funeral took place, 14 people were detained, fewer than in the Siberian cities of Novosibirsk and Omsk, where up to 35 people were sent to police stations.
More than a hundred people have been arrested across Russia during the funerals of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was buried in the Russian capital on Friday under strict security measures.
Although the funeral took place in Moscow, the largest number of arrests took place in the Siberian cities of Novosibirsk and Omsk, where up to 35 people were sent to police stations, according to the organization OVD-Info.
Fourteen people were arrested in Moscow, while a dozen people were arrested in the Urals capital Yekaterinburg, considered the country’s most liberal city.
The funerals in Moscow passed off without incident, both around the Marinino Church, where the funerary chapel was installed, and at the Borisovo cemetery, where the opposition leader was buried.
