A six-year-old child was killed in an accident on a farm in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The boy had fallen unnoticed into a manure tank.
According to NDR, the grandparents missed the child on Sunday afternoon and alerted the police. The boy was visiting his grandparents’ farm in Osterhever in the North Friesland district, the newspaper ‘Bild’ reported.
Help came too late
Police and fire brigade arrived with a large contingent and intensively searched for the child. During the campaign, the manure tank on the site was also pumped out. Firefighters discovered the six-year-old’s lifeless body. About three hours after the emergency call was received, emergency services rescued the child from the well. A doctor could only explain his death.
According to reports, it is still unclear exactly how the accident occurred and how the boy died. The dirty gases from the well alone can be fatal.
