A 49-year-old woman from Aspach was splitting wood with her mother on Monday around 2:50 p.m. The 49-year-old operated a wood splitting machine whose ax is activated by a foot pedal. While attempting to split a piece of wood, unknown complications arose, prompting the woman to reach for the log or axe.
Mother provided first aid
Her mother immediately administered first aid and started the rescue chain. The seriously injured person was taken to UKH Salzburg by the C6 rescue helicopter.
