Calm and collected, but with the necessary determination: when deployed to a Viennese vocational school, the officers of the special Cobra unit once again showed their importance for the safety of citizens in this country. Krone+ looked at how the EKO Cobra works, what equipment is used and what differences it has with the WEGA.
Well-muscled bodies, bright in the upper room and loyal to superiors – a Cobra officer is the model of a police officer. Only the best pass the strict criteria of the entrance exam and, after passing the test, end up in one of the five locations of the special unit. In addition to the main center in Wiener Neustadt, the operational command is also stationed in Vienna, Linz, Innsbruck and Graz. Operational branches are still located in Feldkirch, Klagenfurt and Salzburg. In case of emergency it is possible to reach any location in Austria within 70 minutes. In international comparison, this period represents an absolute peak in the rapid availability of special forces.
