In the future, Austrians who want to travel to China can look forward to easier entry requirements. From May 14, the People’s Republic of China will no longer require a visa.
Until now, Austrians between the ages of 14 and 71 must apply for a visa at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center. According to information on the homepage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the fingerprints of the applicants are registered.
This should end soon. China will implement a visa-free policy for Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Belgium and Luxembourg from May 14, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday.
Some relief already
Anyone who entered the country only once or twice for tourism, trade, visiting family, transit or as a crew member no longer had to be fingerprinted and only had to fill in an “illuminated form”.
