The Adriatic resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro, popular with Austrians, is visited by 20,000 Austrians at Pentecost alone, many of them young people. Unfortunately, it is precisely these that cause repeated wild binge drinking that the community now wants to prevent.

Seaside resort fears for image
The city is increasingly concerned about its image as a family destination, as conditions there are similar to those in Ballermann on the party island of Mallorca. In 2019, for example, it was prohibited to sell alcohol in glass bottles and cans in the seaside resort. Alcohol was only allowed to be sold in bars.
Peace and quiet “do not violate”
“Abuse of alcohol, disorderly behavior and noise during rest periods” should be avoided, advises the local police commander for the current visit at Pentecost. “Exuberance and fun” should not violate the tranquility of other tourists.
“We will also act against vandalism against public and private properties: our beautiful resort is very welcoming to everyone who wants to enjoy themselves in a healthy way and without excesses,” continues Bortolussi. German-speaking police officers from South Tyrol and Carinthia must once again ensure that the situation remains under control.
