12-year-old assaulted – first suspect flees from Vienna with his family

Date:

Fearing revenge, the first suspect of the multicultural gang has now gone into hiding in Vienna with his parents and two brothers and sisters. The family wants to start over in Bulgaria…

Shaban was 15 years old at the time of the crime. He belongs to the seventeen-member multicultural gang that allegedly abused the then twelve-year-old Anna for months. The shocking case of gang rape has also made international headlines. Both the victim and the suspects who are at large (except one) all live in the hotspot district of Favoriten. Anna can meet them at any time…

Unemployed and without income
Shaban spent his childhood in Bulgaria and came to Austria with his parents and two siblings about ten years ago. He attended primary school, secondary school and one year of polytechnic school. The 16-year-old is now unemployed and without an income.

When the teenager was questioned by police about the allegations, he insisted he was innocent: “It was all consensual. She never said she was in pain.” For his lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger, it was “a surprise that the girl reported rape to him weeks later.” The sex was consensual and Anna contacted his client.

“Parents believe in innocence”
Now the big thing: Shaban disappeared to Bulgaria with his mother and siblings this week! So he is the first of the multicultural gang to leave the country. His father, who had worked at a Turkish bakery but was also recently unemployed, also left Austria for his home country after the apartment sold out. “The parents believe in their son’s innocence. But the strange looks from the neighbors – the fear of revenge attacks and the shame are too great. They want to build a new future for themselves in Bulgaria, because there is a revival there,” the lawyer continued against “Krone”.

And what about the ongoing investigation? Arbacher-Stöger: “The court and the public prosecutor are aware. My client will of course not avoid the procedure and will be personally available for any further discussions in Austria.”
