After a serious traffic accident in Berlin, the mother and her four-year-old child died in hospital on Saturday.
The 41-year-old woman and her child were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the accident near Potsdamer Platz. The mother died there a short time later. Her child underwent emergency surgery but also died from her injuries.

The woman’s partner and sister were taken to hospital with shock, police said on Saturday. All four were in Berlin as tourists.
Woman with buggy hit by car
According to initial findings, the woman and child in a stroller were hit by a car on Leipziger Strasse, on a construction site near a shopping center. The 83-year-old driver was also taken to hospital, but was allowed to return home after outpatient treatment and a blood test.
According to the fire brigade, rescuers revived the mother and child at the scene of the accident. They were then further resuscitated on the way to the hospital. After the accident, another car crashed into a vehicle.
