He thought he was getting a good deal, fell for cryptocurrency scammers and lost a small fortune. Some weren’t even his. Now a Braunauer from Upper Austria needs an explanation.
The 41-year-old from Braunau was made aware of a crypto platform in December of the previous year through an advertisement on an internet video channel and trusted that it was not a scam. Unfortunately this was a misconception. He was constantly transferring money to various accounts in Britain and Lithuania.

He also opened a wallet with a crypto service provider, run by remote software, from which the fraudsters transferred funds to a previously unknown wallet. In total, almost 50,000 euros disappeared. The injured party had borrowed a significant portion of the money from relatives.
