After the traffic accident on Sunday afternoon in Vienna-Landstrasse, in which a pedestrian (44) was seriously injured, the driver eventually reported the incident to the police. The 24-year-old came to a police station alone that afternoon. He is now in prison.
The violent collision took place at the intersection of Barmlassengasse and Barichgasse: a driver crashed his vehicle into another car, and one of the cars left the road and crashed into two parked vehicles. The violent impact caused one of the cars to be thrown and hit a passer-by. As already reported, the driver of the accident immediately fled.

The woman was immediately taken to hospital with serious injuries; fortunately her life was not in danger. The occupants of the driver’s car and the second driver involved also suffered minor injuries. An acquaintance of the driver in the accident also told officers that the driver was probably driving too fast. Meanwhile, the search for the fugitive began, but he turned himself in at a police station a few hours later.
The driver was a 24-year-old man from Serbia. “He does not have a driver’s license,” the director announced on Monday. He also initially refused to make a statement. He was temporarily arrested on suspicion of bodily harm by negligence and leaving an injured person in traffic and is now in prison.
