Women took the body in the car to withdraw money

Date:

Two women in the US state of Ohio behaved incredibly rudely after their 80-year-old roommate died. To get his money posthumously, they put his body in their car and drove him to the bank. With this action, the women were able to steal 900 dollars (about 730 euros) from a drive-in counter.

Loreen Bea Feralo (55) and Karen Casbohm (63) were not too picky about the peace of the dead after their elderly roommateDouglas Layman died in the apartment they shared in Ashtabula. The women, aged 55 and 63, lifted his body into the passenger seat of a car. The sickly load was then taken to the drive-thru counter of a credit institution.

Feralo and Casbohm had the authority to withdraw money from the deceased’s bank branch as long as the account holder was in the car. The bank employees didn’t notice that he had already died, so they handed out hundreds of dollars to his roommates.

Police chief: Body “just left” in hospital
They then had no use for the body and dumped it in a hospital emergency room without explanation. The staff did not know who the deceased was. “They left without giving any information to the hospital. “They just left him,” said Police Chief Robert Stell, stunned by the action.

“Gross abuse of a corpse”
One of the women eventually reported to the hospital, after which the dead man was identified. The police then drove to the layman’s apartment, where one suspect had lived for several years and the other for several months, and arrested the two. The women are accused of theft and ‘gross abuse of a corpse’.

Suspects already known to authorities
The ladies have a long criminal record: Casbohm’s criminal record includes theft, drug offenses and trespassing. Feralo has been arrested in the past for assault, drug offenses, trespassing, driving under the influence and theft.
