Stranded in hotel – mother and son (6) in shock after fire tragedy

Date:

After the devastating fire in Villach, mother (30) and son (6) were ‘stranded’ in the hotel. The fire took almost everything from them.

Pervasive smell despite the windows being open, broken windows, dark black walls and ceilings – the “Krone” entered the fire apartment in Villach two days after the horror experience with the single mother. As reported, a fire broke out in the children’s room on Friday afternoon – luckily Louis (6) was in the living room. Mother Eny was sitting at the dining table and smelled a ‘weird smell’.

When the aspiring dental assistant looked, thick smoke was already hitting her from the hallway. She grabbed her son, who had a lung problem, and fled through the second corridor, which fortunately was available. With tears in her eyes, Eny now stands in front of her son’s small, completely burnt-out bedroom, where the fire was apparently caused by a toy battery. “If we had both been asleep, I wouldn’t have been able to save my son.”

But the mother may never have woken up from the carbon monoxide. The legally required fire detectors would probably have woken them up, but they were not present in any of the living rooms. According to the current smoke detector regulations, there is negligence on the part of the landlord. In this case, the Catholic Church, which in its first correspondence with the affected family only wrote that a smoke detector probably could not have prevented the major damage…

Family “Krone” helps
Mother and son are staying in a hotel at the expense of the city of Villach until the destroyed fire apartment is “restored”. A replacement apartment is currently not available. “Krone Helps” has started a fundraising campaign for the family of two.
