Motorcycle accident in Stubenberg, Styria: On Sunday a motorcyclist collided with a car on the country road. His tank caught fire and he was seriously injured.
On the winding country road (L409) towards St. Johann, scenes that every motorcyclist fears occurred on Sunday. An oncoming car was directly in the motorcyclist’s path and he could no longer avoid it.
The two vehicles collided, also damaging the machine’s engine. Gasoline leaked and ignited. Miraculously, the motorcyclist survived – albeit with injuries. Even the driver of the car did not escape unscathed.
Many local emergency services took action
When emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident, they extinguished the fire and closed the street. Rescue workers treated the injured and took the motorcyclist to the LKH Graz in the rescue helicopter. The driver of the car was taken to the LKH Hartberg.
The volunteer fire brigades Stubenberg am See and St. Johann were present and cleared the scene of spilled binders and vehicle parts. The Pöllau police, the towing service and the rescue services from Weiz and Pischelsdorf were also on site.
