A spectacular accident took place in Bad Reichenhall on Monday evening: a young man from Salzburg rushed into a petrol station, took the petrol pump with him and left a trail of destruction. Four young men were taken to hospital and there was extensive property damage.
At around 6:10 p.m., a 25-year-old driver from Salzburg was driving with three other passengers on the B21 in Bad Reichenhall (Bavaria). Exactly at the height of a gas station opposite the thermal baths, he drove off the road at full speed.
Gasoline pump torn away
He collided with a gas pump and completely tore it away. He rammed a construction fence and a sign and even moved some large boundary stones with his car. Shortly afterwards he was able to stop his vehicle at the gate of the adjacent spa gardens.
No injuries
There were four men in the car, aged 20, 23, 25 and 34. They were taken in two ambulances to the Bad Reichenhall district clinic for further examination. None of the men are expected to be injured.
The car suffered a total loss of 25,000 euros. The Bad Reichenhall volunteer fire brigade secured the danger zone with twenty emergency services and ensured that nothing caught fire. But the gas pump had automatically turned itself off.
