First, lectures at the University of Innsbruck were interrupted on Thursday afternoon, then there was a protest march by the ‘Last Generation’ in the city center. The demands of the climate activists were known. According to the activists themselves, there were 400 participants, the police speak of around 130 demonstrators.
From 4 p.m. we went from the market square via Herzog-Otto-Straße towards SOWI and led via Sillgasse to Landhausplatz. The protest march was preceded by interruptions of lectures at the University of Innsbruck. On Thursday, activists again demanded that a fundamental right to climate protection be enshrined in the constitution. The implementation of the socially balanced recommendations of the National Climate Council was also necessary.
“Civil resistance is the only choice”
“I wonder what the value is of the knowledge that I receive every day at the university if I do not act on it myself, and especially the government. I see no other choice than to engage in civil resistance to show that my future doesn’t matter to me,” says Katharina (26), an educational sciences student.

On Salurnerstrasse, the participants sat on the street without staying to themselves and sang there for about 25 minutes. “At 5:30 p.m. the meeting was dissolved by a participant himself,” the police said. The event took place without any major incidents. “The traffic disruption was limited due to quick diversion measures by the police,” said the driver. The chairman of the meeting is reported.
