A Tyrolean paraglider pilot was seriously injured in an accident on Friday: on the Innsbruck Nordkette, thermals were fatal for the 29-year-old, after which his legs became entangled in an avalanche barrier.
The local started on Friday shortly before noon from the starting point “Nordkette 2” on the Innsbruck Seegrube. The 29-year-old had just lifted his paraglider and was about to take off when a stall occurred. As a result, his paraglider lost altitude uncontrollably and the pilot became stuck in the avalanche barrier below the starting point after several meters.
The man crashed into the barrier and seriously injured his legs. A witness provided first aid to the injured person. He was then flown by emergency helicopter to the hospital in Hall in Tirol.
