Wild scenes took place in the Lilienfeld district on Sunday afternoon. Two young men (18, 20), first from a moped and then from a car, randomly targeted pedestrians with soft weapons. Two people had to be treated.
The duo probably bought the three softguns the day before in the Czech Republic. The next day, armed with them, they rode on a moped from Eschenau towards St. Pölten, where they aimed at a pedestrian while driving. However, they missed this just as a passerby walking in Wilhelmsburg, St. Pölten district, did a little later.
In Hainfeld, the suspects then got into a car and shot seven other people while driving. At least two of them hit them with the hard plastic bullets. They all suffered bruises and required medical attention.
Three pistols and ammunition seized
The young men were stopped by police in Hainfeld that evening. The three pistols and ammunition were found in the car. A temporary weapons ban was imposed on the two. Further investigations are still ongoing. There are also initial reports that shots were fired with the newly purchased soft weapons on the return journey from the Czech Republic.
