A driver drove his car off the road in Vienna-Liesing on Tuesday morning and broke through the fence of a dog park. According to Christian Feiler, spokesperson for the professional fire brigade, the accident took place around 8:40 am at the intersection of Breitenfurter Straße and Lehmanngasse. The car destroyed some amenities at the dog park and damaged a fire hydrant. The elderly driver is said to have escaped with minor injuries.
Car was on its side
Four-legged friends and their owners were unharmed in the spectacular accident. Previously unconfirmed eyewitness accounts said the driver of the accident was pushed away or even hit by a truck and his car overturned. When the professional fire brigade arrived at the scene of the accident, the car was on its side. Passersby helped the driver out of the car. An emergency service treated him and took him to hospital – apparently as a precaution.
Emergency services tied up the leaking oil and pulled the car out of the dog area using a fire truck winch. Then he was put on wheels and taken away. The protruding parts of the fencing have been removed or secured.
