A 61-year-old motorist was surprised by a deer in Pinzgau (Salzburg). The animal suddenly jumped into the road. The driver braked abruptly, leading to a rear-end collision because the driver behind him could not react quickly enough.
A serious traffic accident took place in Pinzgau on the B164, Hochkönigstrasse on Wednesday evening. A 61-year-old Slovenian drove his small truck from Maria Alm towards Saalfelden.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. when a deer suddenly jumped in front of the small truck from the right. Despite abrupt braking, the driver was unable to avoid a collision, which killed the deer. A 21-year-old woman from Pinzgau was driving behind the truck and was unable to stop in time due to the sudden braking and collided with the small truck.
Injured people taken to hospital
The woman from Pinzgau injured her hand in the collision. Her 17-year-old passenger and the truck driver involved went into shock. The injured driver and her passenger were taken to the Tauern Clinic in Zell am See for further examination.
The cleaning work was carried out by the Saalfelden volunteer fire brigade. An alcohol test on the drivers was negative.
