Tragic accident – man hit on Rhine Valley highway – dead

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the A14 near Nenzing (Vorarlberg) in the early hours of Thursday. After the accident, a 23-year-old man crashed into the center rail and got out of his vehicle. Shortly afterwards he was hit by an oncoming car and fatally injured. The Romanian died at the scene of the accident from his serious injuries.

A 23-year-old man from Romania got stuck on the A14 early Thursday morning Near Nenzing’s driveway, his car skidded for unknown reasons. The vehicle crashed into the center guardrail and eventually came to a stop in the middle of the road.

The driver got out of the car. At the same time, a 48-year-old was driving his car on the A14 towards Germany. At the Nenzing driveway he wanted to make room for the incoming vehicles so he could get in line.

To do this, he pulled into the fast lane. He must have missed the Romanian’s car there. The 48-year-old’s car hit both the Romanian citizen and his vehicle. The head-on collision left the 23-year-old man trapped under the car. The 48-year-old’s car stopped about 30 meters away. Witnesses to the accident pulled the Romanian from under the car and provided first aid. But despite these measures, the man died at the scene of the accident.

The 48-year-old Austrian injured his left hand in the crash and was taken to hospital. During the investigation into the accident, the A14 towards Germany was closed for almost four hours between the Nenzing exit and the Frastanz exit.
