Two women – mother and daughter – were apparently murdered in Germany to take the youngest’s child. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the two suspects in North Baden are a married couple. The 43-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife came from Sandhausen, a small town south of Heidelberg, the Mannheim public prosecutor’s office said Thursday. So it concerns a German couple.
According to police, the two suspects have not yet responded to the allegations. On Wednesday, the Public Prosecution Service and the police announced that after almost two weeks of intensive search, they had found the body of the 51-year-old mother in a fishing lake near Bad Schönborn (Karlsruhe district).
Child in the care of the child welfare agency
In early March, the body of the woman’s 27-year-old daughter was discovered on the banks of the Rhine near Hockenheim. The young woman’s baby was found unharmed last week by the couple from Sandhausen. The couple has been in custody ever since. According to investigators, the six-week-old girl remains in the care of child services. Neither the Public Prosecution Service nor the police have commented on the baby’s father. Police spokesman Stefan Wilhelm simply said: “The possible father of the child is not suspected.”
According to Wednesday’s announcement, the suspects come from the personal environment of the dead. In two cases there is therefore an urgent suspicion of “treacherous communal murder to cover up a crime”. According to their own statements, investigators believe the two killed the baby’s grandmother on the evening of March 6 and the baby’s mother a few hours later.
The couple probably wanted to pass the baby off as their own
The newspaper ‘Bild’ reported this weekend that the suspects had told neighbors and colleagues in recent months about the alleged impending birth of their own daughter. They allegedly killed the 27-year-old to pass the baby off as their own. However, neither the police nor the Public Prosecution Service have yet commented on the couple’s possible motive.
