Several hundred thousand electricity and gas customers of Wien Energie will get their money back after a successful agreement with the Association for Consumer Information (VKI). The amount depends on individual consumption, on average it is 275 euros.
Customers will receive information letters in the coming days about the processing of refunds. To process the transaction you only need the customer number and the contract account number. You will find this on the annual statement.
Payment will be made within four weeks at the latest. Registration is possible until June 30, 2024. People who are currently no longer Wien Energie customers can also participate.
All electricity and gas customers who had an existing contract with the ‘Optima’ tariff on August 31, 2022 will now receive a refund – regardless of whether they automatically switched, objected to it or actively agreed to it.
The amount of the refund depends on consumption
The amount of the refund depends on the actual, individual consumption and whether you have actively agreed to a change or whether it happened automatically.
An average household that uses 2,000 kilowatt hours of electricity will receive a compensation of 75 euros and a household that uses 8,000 kilowatt hours of gas will receive a compensation of 200 euros.
