At the beginning of April, Philip Morris and DanCzek will again increase their prices for various types of cigarettes by between 20 and 30 cents. The popular smoking alternative ‘Heets’ for the Iqos e-cigarette will also become 20 cents more expensive.
At the beginning of April there will be price increases again for some cigarette brands. The tobacco company Philip Morris will increase prices for brands such as Chesterfield, Marlboro and Philip Morris by 20 cents and L&M Red and Blue Label by 30 cents per pack, according to a list in the trade newspaper “Trafikanten Zeitung”. Tobacco for heating (HEETS) is also 20 cents more expensive. DanCzek increases cigarette prices for different types by 10 cents to 5.40 euros.
Tobacco taxes went up
The reason for the increase is the increase in tobacco taxes. The tobacco company JTI, which in Austria includes the former Austria Tabak and the tobacco wholesaler Tobaccoland, had already raised prices at the beginning of March. Benson & Hedges Gold, various Camel varieties, Meine Sorte, Memphis Strato Blue and Smart Export have cost 20 cents more per package since March 4, according to the Trafikanten Zeitung.
Cigarette prices also rose last year by an average of 30 cents per pack. On average, a package in this country costs 5.77 euros. The pack of Marlboro will cost 6.50 euros from April 2.
