Because she had forgotten her ID, a bus inspector in Villach fined a student 135 euros.
Just like every day, the eleven-year-old boards the Kärntner Linien school bus at the bus stop in Villach shortly after 7 a.m. It takes no less than two stops before the high school student in Landskron has to get off again. When the door opens, the (first) shock comes: she cannot find her annual pass. “No problem, get in” – the nice regular bus driver knows the girl and knows that she is not a brazen fare dodger.
Reassured by the fact that she will still be at school on time, the eleven-year-old stands in the hallway. A few seconds later the next shock followed: “Ticket please” – a total of two inspectors from the security company that Securitas had hired were targeting the student. With a guilty conscience and fear, the eleven-year-old apologizes for the second time – and immediately takes five euros in candy money from her school bag.
“Daughter went to school crying”
To pay the 2.60 euro ticket for their two-station journey. But the inspector did not want to accept it. “No, you’d better buy an ice cream with it,” was his supposedly nice response. Out of mercy over justice: he took out a ballpoint pen and handed the eleven-year-old a fine of 135 euros. For comparison: the annual student card costs 19.60 euros. “My daughter came to school crying. Since then, she no longer dares to take the bus alone,” the mother told “Krone”.
“We would like to sincerely apologize for the behavior of the Securitas employee and his lack of tact. This approach doesn’t work at all! We absolutely will not tolerate this and will address it – so that something like this does not happen again in the future! Of course, the fine is invalid,” assures Roland Fercher of the Carinthian transport company.
