A 15-year-old boy was threatened with a knife by a teenager at Linz’s main station on Thursday morning because of his Gucci cap. The perpetrator was arrested a short time later by police officers wearing the cap; during interrogation he only partially confessed.
The 15-year-old victim from Traun had a Gucci cap torn off his head by an initially unknown person. When the boy demanded his headgear back, the thief threatened him with a pocket knife and left the location in the direction of a restaurant on the station grounds. There, the 15-year-old boy met the stranger again and demanded his cap back.
Only partially known
He again held the knife to his stomach and threatened him. Just a few moments later, the suspect, an 18-year-old Romanian from Linz, was arrested by the alerted police patrols. During his interrogation he only partially confessed. A temporary weapons ban was imposed on him and he was taken to Linz prison by order of the public prosecutor.
“More handling needed”
Andreas Pilsl, director of the state police, said: “This case shows once again how important the current discussion on a general ban on weapons in public is. Teenagers and young adults are increasingly turning to guns, especially knives, to commit serious crimes. I am therefore of the opinion that legal preconditions that give us as police more control are absolutely necessary.”
