A sailing boat was in distress on Friday when there was a storm warning on Lake Constance. Emergency services from the water police, fire brigade and water rescue team went to Fußach Bay to rescue the boat with a crew of five.
Shortly before 1 p.m., the emergency call was received by the rescue control center: a sailboat in Fußach Bay had technical problems. The emergency services of the Hardwater Police, the fire brigade and the water rescue service immediately took action.
In the vicinity of the Fußach fairway they came across the boat on which the 21-year-old skipper and four other people were. A short time later the boat and crew were safely brought to Fussach harbour.
Motor too weak
It later turned out that the boat had no technical defect. Given the wind and wave conditions – the waves in the operating area were about 1.30 meters high – the ship’s engine was simply too weak to maneuver the boat.
No one was injured and no damage was caused during the rescue operation. The operation involved the crews of the water rescue boat V-112, the fire boat Föhn and those of the water police boat LPD-V-890.
