After a man (40) allegedly met two men at the train station in Vienna-Floridsdorf on Friday evening, he invited them to his apartment. What happened next: an attempted robbery and lacerations to the hand. The victim was able to lock the suspects in his apartment. WEGA had to withdraw.
The 40-year-old is said to have met the two men, aged 43 and 44, at the train station in Floridsdorf. When they arrived at the apartment, one of the two guests allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and threatened the victim. At the same time, the man allegedly demanded money from the 40-year-old.
Apartment searched for valuables
Meanwhile, the other suspect entered the building looking for other valuables. The victim eventually managed to escape, left the apartment and locked the two robbers in his apartment. Because the 40-year-old tried to steal his opponent’s knife, he suffered cuts on his hand.
Neighbors could hear the victim’s cries for help
The emergency services were alerted by an observant neighbor who had noticed the incident; he had heard the victim’s cries for help. “Police officers from the WEGA special unit had to force open the apartment door because the lock was broken. The two suspected perpetrators have been arrested,” the director announced on Saturday.
The apartment owner’s injuries were treated by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service after the incident. The two suspects accuse the 40-year-old of lying – but an interrogation is still ongoing.
