Little, shaggy Mirko has lived in an animal shelter almost all his life. Due to his terrible history, it was difficult for him to trust people for a long time. Today, he has his own fan base who have given him a happy and wonderful Easter. But something is still missing for his great happiness…
Little Mirko with the lion’s mane had to experience something incredible. Because his previous owner did not mean well for the sweet four-legged friend – he tortured him and almost drowned him. Afterwards he was so upset that he did not allow himself to be painted for nine years and simply hid in his doghouse, reports ‘Bild’.
He was also not available for walks or treats. An animal shelter near Chemnitz even said that Mirko was “the saddest dog in Germany.” Everything changed after a “Bild” report: a trainer noticed him and really wanted to help him overcome his fear. Said and done. Mirko now goes for a walk every day, allows herself to be petted and even brushed.

Many people follow Mirko’s story. Student Anika regrets that she was unable to give the dog a home. But she wanted to make him happy anyway and wrote to him: “Spring is slowly returning and it is time for the Easter Bunny to come to you with little surprises.”
Mirko was allowed to be there when the present was unwrapped – extensive sniffing and tasting included. Anika’s kind words were also received. Because the animal shelter team reads each dog their fan mail.
