The case of a farmer from Eggelsberg came to a sad end on Saturday. The 74-year-old was initially successfully resuscitated and flown to hospital after a tragic workplace accident on his farm on Friday. Ultimately, the injuries were apparently so serious that the patient died in hospital the next day.
Unfortunately, all the efforts of the medical staff at the Salzburg Hospital could not ultimately save the 74-year-old from Eggelsberg. The old farmer from Innviertel died in hospital on Saturday from his serious injuries.
As reported, the man was in the courtyard of his farm on Friday morning connecting and disconnecting a mandatory mixer from his tractor. For this work he had to stand on the PTO shaft between the mixer and the tractor. The accident happened: the 74-year-old may have accidentally activated the hydraulic lever.
The result was that the farmer became trapped between the tractor and the mandatory mixer. His wife found him shortly after 11am and immediately raised the alarm. The arriving rescuers had to resuscitate the 74-year-old on the spot. Three fire brigades assisted in the rescue. The most seriously injured man was flown by rescue helicopter to Salzburg State Hospital, where he died the next day.
