Like so many others, a family with two children went for a walk in Saxon Switzerland on Easter Sunday. But the son with his balance bike suddenly disappeared. Only after a nine-hour search were his parents able to hug the runaway again.
The boy was found slightly hypothermic and with minor injuries about 500 meters from the spot in the forest where he disappeared.
Drones and a helicopter in use
Police officers, rangers and mountain rescue workers had been searching for hours for the 5-year-old in the impassable, rocky terrain. Drones and a helicopter were also used.
It wasn’t until shortly after 10 p.m. that his parents received the reassuring news that their son had been found safe.

‘The child is alive. One of the dogs found the boy in the woods, slightly hypothermic and with scratches. “We are all happy that the case ended well,” said a spokesperson for the Dresden police. What the boy did during the nine hours remains his secret.
