Does summer start in April? – The 30 degree mark could be broken this week

Date:

April has only just begun and the 30 degree mark could soon be exceeded in Austria. On Monday the temperature in Vienna reached 28.5 degrees. The next summer sky should definitely come to Central Europe from Saturday.

After a large cloud of Sahara dust from the African continent came to our country with the South Foehn last week, in addition to the weather phenomenon, the extremely high temperatures in Austria are now also causing excitement. On Holy Saturday this year the limit of 25 degrees was reached for the first time. Two days later – on Easter Monday – 28.5 degrees were measured on the Hohe Warte in Vienna.

Summer air is returning to Central Europe
Current weather forecasts have many experts suspecting that with the next summer sky, which is expected to arrive in Central Europe this weekend, the 30 degree mark in the country could soon be broken. “The earliest temperature recorded so far in Austria was on April 17, 1934 in the city of Salzburg. This year it could happen from Saturday (April 6) to about Tuesday (April 9),” ORF meteorologist Daniel Schrott revealed on Tuesday. In Hungary and Croatia, temperatures reached 30 degrees on Easter Monday.

For weatherman Marcus Wadsak, the first 30s of the year are also quite possible: “The coming weekend will be extremely warm again.” According to experts from GeoSphere Austria, it will be warmest in Salzburg and Tyrol at 28 degrees. 27 degrees are expected in Vorarlberg. In the rest of the country, maximum temperatures are expected between 24 and 25 degrees.

Summer days come way too early
One thing is certain: the first days of summer are far too early this year. Both February and March were warmer this year than ever in Austria in the past 250 years.
