“Want to set an example” – Manker and Friedmann sue each other

Date:

On Wednesday, director Paulus Manker and former ‘Alma’ actress Anna Werner Friedmann continue to argue in court. This time it’s about the civil lawsuit he filed. But soon the two switch roles – then she is the prosecutor.

When Alma actress Anna Werner Friedmann confronted Paulus Manker on August 9, 2023, with the fact that her salary, unlike her ensemble colleagues, had not yet been paid, he reportedly replied: “Then it must be up to you.” The 32-year-old then publicly said the following words during the performance in Semmering: “I don’t get paid, everyone else does.”

Manker immediately sued Mimin for an injunction. Today the dispute enters its second round at the Regional Civil Law Court in Vienna. In addition to Manker and Friedmann, ensemble members will be questioned as witnesses. A hearing about this already took place in the Palace of Justice in December.

Two attempts at negotiations failed
But the controversial theater director may have underestimated his counterpart. Because the Viennese, who is currently engaged in Berlin, is fighting back and, together with her lawyer Katharina Braun, has filed a private lawsuit against the 66-year-old for defamation and insult at the regional criminal court. When asked about Friedmann in interviews, Manker claimed, “She is blackmailing and denying me.”

Because the suspect was not in the country and the court apparently made an invitation error on the second attempt, the trial against Manker at the Regional Criminal Court in Vienna is still ongoing.

But why all this accusing each other? Lawyer Braun: “My client wants to set an example and show that people don’t treat each other like that.”
