Dispute over sister – stateless man (21) stabs boy with knife

A 21-year-old stateless person attacked a 16-year-old boy with a knife before an AMS course in Vienna’s Leopoldstadt district on Tuesday morning. The Iraqi was injured in the head and neck. The attacker fled but was arrested a short time later.

The knife attack took place during a verbal argument around 10 a.m. in Wehlistrasse. The dispute broke out in front of an educational institution where both parties involved had likely completed an AMS course. According to reports, the 16-year-old came into contact with the stateless person’s sister, after which he panicked and stabbed him.

The victim was taken to hospital after first aid. There is no danger to life.

WEGA arrested suspect
The 21-year-old ran away, but was found in an apartment by WEGA emergency services a short time later and arrested.

The suspect was then transferred to a penitentiary. The suspected murder weapon was seized from the apartment. Further investigations are underway.
