A scary moment for an 82-year-old farmer on Friday afternoon in Söll in the Tyrolean lowlands: the tractor with which he was driving across a field caught fire. However, with the help of a neighbor, the man was able to respond quickly.
The vehicle the local man drove in a field above his farm is an older model. Around 3 p.m., the rear engine of the tractor suddenly caught fire – the reason for this is still unclear.
Fight flames with a fire extinguisher
The driver then alerted a neighbor, who called the fire brigade and came to the 82-year-old’s aid with several fire extinguishers. The flames were under control, so the Söll fire brigade only had to carry out extinguishing work and monitor with a thermal imaging camera. After an hour, the approximately 25 emergency services were able to leave again.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire. The extent of the damage caused cannot yet be estimated.
