Targeted attack – Israel: Key Hezbollah commander killed

Date:

The Israeli army said it deliberately killed a key commander of the pro-Iranian Shiite militia Hezbollah on Monday. He is commander of the Radwan Force, an elite unit of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

The commander and two other Hezbollah fighters under his command were killed in an airstrike in Sultaniya. Hezbollah confirmed the commander’s death on Monday, but gave no further details.

“Planning and execution of terrorist attacks”
His rank is comparable to that of brigade commander, the army said in a statement. “In his role, he was responsible for planning and carrying out terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians in northern Israel.” Since the war began, he has led several attacks on Israeli territory.

Since the start of the Gaza war following the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, there have been repeated clashes between the Israeli army and militant groups such as Hezbollah in the Israel-Lebanese border area. It is the worst escalation since the second Lebanon war in 2006. There were deaths on both sides.
