A 27-year-old man cut open a Welsh training vehicle and then attacked the driving school instructor. The instructor was seriously injured, is now wearing a plaster cast and also requires surgery. The owner of the school criticizes that other leaders no longer have patience with students.
An L17 inspection run in Wels was almost over on Monday afternoon when an Audi came from the opposite direction in the middle of the last intersection. “I already warned my student: ‘Be careful, he probably doesn’t know what to do!’, and we drove slowly towards him,” says driving instructor Christian Fuchs. “When we were only a few meters away from him, he suddenly turned left right in front of us and gave us the middle finger! So I honked, pointed at him and warned my student driver about such drivers.”
Even surgery necessary
The Audi driver (27) then stopped abruptly, left his car at the intersection with the door open and ran after the driving school car, which turned into the company yard. There the argument escalated completely: “He was bigger than me and insulted me rudely, while I asked him to leave the private garden,” said the instructor. “Suddenly he pushed me backwards with both hands so hard that I broke my left spoke four times and now have to have surgery!” said Fuchs.
Stress-related epileptic seizure
Before rescue services and police arrived, the 27-year-old Bosnian from Wels fled the scene. But a police patrol found him at home a short time later. When they wanted to take Welser to the station, he suddenly collapsed and, like his victim, was taken to hospital. As he had done before, he had suffered a stress-related seizure.
“Unfortunately, something like this is not unusual: the ‘L’ on the car no longer means anything, even if the student driver has not made a mistake like this,” says driving school boss Dragan Nedeljkovic. “There is a lot more traffic than there was 20 years ago, but the respect and tolerance for driving school cars is decreasing. Every driver was once a novice and should know how stressful the first rides are!”
