Three perpetrators arrested – ATM gang arrested: 180,000 euros in damage

Date:

As many as 67 crimes are said to have been committed by three men living in Vienna. They had broken into numerous ATMs, mainly in Lower Austria, and stolen cash there. Now the handcuffs clicked.

Garbage bags, cigarettes, cannabis, medicine: every conceivable vending machine was targeted by three young men between the ages of 19 and 23. Using brute force, the criminals cracked no fewer than 67 devices in Lower Austria, Vienna, Upper Austria, Burgenland and Styria. The trio knew exactly how to use the tools correctly to get the money. Because in most cases they didn’t care about the content itself.

Not always luck with the loot
Just a few days after a coup in Himberg in the Bruck an der Leitha district, the handcuffs clicked for them. The thieves caused a lot of material damage there, but they did not have much luck with their loot. So they had opted for a drinks machine that had only been put into use the day before. Mayor Ernst Wendl’s wish that the perpetrators would be quickly found and brought to justice was fulfilled by the investigators of the State Criminal Investigation Department, who were already on the trail of the gang.

When they invaded large parts of Austria, they caused total damage of around 180,000 euros. The three men, two Austrians and a Turk, are already in custody and have been reported to the Public Prosecution Service.
