A storm is ravaging large parts of Austria. The Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics has already issued a wind warning for Burgenland, Lower Austria and Styria. In Gumpoldskirchen (Lower Austria) almost 110 km/h was measured. It even snows in Tyrol and Salzburg.
Vienna also stormy
At Brunnenkogel, also in Tyrol, at 3,437 meters above sea level, the wind reached a peak of 106.6 km/h. Buchberg in Lower Austria at 460 meters above sea level (106.2 km/h), the Vienna Jubilee Observatory (450 meters above sea level, 101.9 km/h) and the Rudolfshütte in Salzburg (2317 meters above sea level; 100.1 km /h) also caused it to reach triple-digit wind peaks.
There were widespread wind speeds of over 50 mph. These include the Hohe Wand, Wiener Neustadt, Melk and the Vienna measuring stations Hohe Warte and Innere Stadt.
