A car and a truck loaded with liquid nitrogen were involved in a serious accident on the B100 Drautalstrasse in Carinthia shortly before 5:30 am on Friday morning. The road was closed and the operation had now ended – with a fatal outcome.
As police confirmed, a major operation took place on the B100 towards Spittal between the Villach Nord and Villach West junctions on Friday. An accident took place there in the early morning; according to the fire brigade, a car collided almost head-on with a truck.
Huge injuries
There were several police patrols, fire brigades and ambulances on site. The driver of the car was trapped in her vehicle during the collision. “The driver, who was alone in the car, was seriously trapped in the chest and pelvic area due to the force of the impact,” the fire brigade said..
All help came too late
According to Harald Geissler, commander of the Villach main fire station, despite all efforts the woman could not be saved: she died. “Despite the quick and professional efforts of the fire brigade, the emergency doctor present was unfortunately only able to determine that the woman was dead,” continues HBI Geissler Harald. The car still needs to be recovered.
