From the beginning of the week, the cold front will put an end to the summer weather for the time being

Date:

The summer temperatures are over for the time being. With a cold front, the weather changes significantly at the beginning of the week. Geosphere Austria announced that there will be dense cloud cover from the west on Monday, bringing more and more rain and sometimes heavy showers. The rainfall provides significant relief for allergy sufferers who react to birch and ash pollen.

Individual thunderstorms are likely on Monday, especially from Salzburg to the east. Particularly in Lower Carinthia and Southern Styria, it will remain largely dry and sometimes sunny until the evening. With the front there will be a moderate to strong westerly wind, and in the area of the thunderstorm sometimes even a strong westerly wind. Early temperatures are generally between eight and 16 degrees, daily maximum temperatures from west to southeast are 16 to 28 degrees.

Tuesday: Snowfall drops to 3,000 to 4,000 feet
On Tuesday the sky will remain cloudy and showers will continue, in the south the rain will increase and it will often rain persistently and sometimes heavily from Upper Carinthia to the industrial area. The snowfall line drops to 900 to 1200 meters. In the western half the wind blows strongly from the west, but with heavy rainfall in the east it remains quite light. Early temperatures: three to ten degrees, daily maximum temperatures reach eight to fourteen degrees.

Sun on Wednesday only possible in the far east and southeast
Dense clouds will remain over most of the country until the evening on Wednesday. The chance of sunshine is greatest in the far east and southeast. With the cloud cover, rain and showers should also be expected with a snow line between 800 and 1200 meters, especially from Vorarlberg along the north side of the Alps to Upper Austria and western Lower Austria. It also rains for a longer period of time on the northern edge of the Alps. The wind blows from the west to the north and blows moderately, in exposed places also strong with two to eight degrees in the morning. The maximum daytime temperatures are six to fourteen degrees.

The sun rarely shines on Thursday
Also on Thursday, disturbance influences will cause numerous dense clouds over the entire eastern Alpine region, with repeated rain showers with a snow line between 600 and 1200 meters. Sometimes even wet snow showers can mix with the precipitation. Longer sunny periods remain an exception. The wind is from the west to northwest and blows moderate to strong, especially in the Föhn valleys in the south, but also in the Vienna basin and on the eastern edge of the Alps. The early temperatures fluctuate between minus one and plus six degrees. During the day it is four to thirteen degrees.

Low-pressure vortices also control Austria on Friday
Austria will remain under the influence of a low-pressure vortex and cold air masses from Northern Europe on Friday. This means that there will be repeated periods of dense cloud, especially north of the main Alpine ridge and in the north and east, which also bring showers and showers when snow levels are around 1000 meters. However, further south and southeast the sun shines more often and for longer. Short showers here are limited to the mountains. The wind from the west to the north is blowing weak to moderate with early temperatures between minus one and plus three degrees. During the day temperatures reach nine to fourteen degrees.
