Rocket launches planned – Hezbollah commander killed in drone strike

A Hezbollah commander was killed in an attack in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, the Israeli army said. The pro-Iranian militia confirmed his death. An Israeli drone hit Ismail Yusuf Baz’s car in the city of Ain Baal.

Lebanese media also reported, citing security sources from southern Lebanon, that the murdered man was a leading member of the Hezbollah militia. Two other people were injured in the attack near the Israeli border. According to the Israeli army, Ismail Yusuf Baz was in charge of the military activities of the pro-Iranian militia in the affected area. The commander had planned, among other things, rocket launches towards Israel.

Death on further attack
More victims are said to have been killed in another attack in the Lebanese city of Chehabiyeh. The Lebanese news agency NNA reported that there were deaths and injuries. The attack is said to have targeted two cars.

The Israeli military previously announced that it had registered two attack drones in Israeli territory. They exploded in the area around Beit Hillel. Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the militia, he targeted a platform of the Israeli missile defense system.

Hezbollah also claimed several attacks on Israeli targets. In response to the attack in Ain Baal, rockets were fired at Beit Hillel. Hezbollah also announced the death of another member, without providing further details.

Since the start of the Gaza war following the October 7 massacre by the Islamist Hamas in Israel, there have been daily deadly clashes between the Israeli army and militant groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon on the Israeli-Lebanese border. Civilians were also killed in mutual shelling in both countries.
