The fact that a 61-year-old farmer from Brückl managed to drag himself to his own house after an accident on a tractor could have saved his life.
The accident took place on Thursday afternoon in the 61-year-old farm forest in the municipality of Brückl. He had chained a tree trunk to a tractor. “He was pulling the log across his forest path when the tractor started to slide,” police said. “It tipped sideways a few meters along a steep dike. The farmer was thrown from the tractor.”
With his serious injuries and his last strength, the 61-year-old dragged himself to his house – so that the rescuers could be warned in time. “The injured person received initial care from the rescue service and the emergency doctor and was then flown by the rescue helicopter RK 1 to the Klagenfurt clinic for further care,” the police continued.
Because there was a risk that the tractor would crash again, the Brückl volunteer fire brigade had to protect the vehicle with 15 emergency services.
