A serious traffic accident occurred near Wang in the Scheibbs district of Lower Austria on Friday morning. A van and a station wagon collided on a country road. Ten people were injured, three of them seriously. One prisoner escaped in horror.
According to initial information, a van with six occupants collided with a station wagon containing five occupants. Ten of the eleven occupants were injured in the crash. It is still unclear why the accident occurred on the L6155 near Wang.
Large contingent of emergency services
A large contingent of emergency services – including five ambulances, an emergency medical team, the district manager and the mobile control center of emergency number 144 (LEO-Mobil) – rushed to the scene of the accident. Police and fire brigade were also alerted.
Three people needed emergency medical attention
The ten injured received first aid on the spot. Three of them were so seriously injured that they required emergency medical care. One prisoner escaped in horror. The rescuers then transported nine people with varying degrees of injuries to the clinics in Amstetten and Scheibbs.
With the help of a fire hydrant, the Florianis rescued the van and station wagon and cleaned up the accident scene. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
