Another serious accident involving a truck trailer: Once again, the windshield of a car was pierced by the trailer of a truck, right at the height of the driver’s head. The driver escaped with his life: he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Another serious accident between a truck and a car has occurred in Upper Austria. On Monday morning around 6:45 a.m., a 56-year-old long-distance driver from Poland drove his trailer to the right side of the road on the Rieder federal road between Haag am Hausruck and Grieskirchen using the hazard warning system. As he later explained, he wanted to make sure he was on the right track.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old from Haag am Hausruck was driving in the same direction in his VW Golf. He was unable to brake in time and crashed into the back of the trailer. The rear bumper of the heavy trailer stuck through the windshield right at head height.

Nevertheless, the 26-year-old survived the impact: after emergency medical treatment, he was taken to the clinic in Wels-Grieskirchen with serious injuries.
Guardian angel again
Last week, two young car occupants also had very hard-working guardian angels (see link box): two young men (17, 18) drove a small Nissan sports car into the side of a truck trailer, causing the youngtimer to reach the rear window. The 18-year-old driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while his 17-year-old passenger escaped with minor injuries.
