A man escaped a stop in Vienna on Monday afternoon: first he accelerated in his car and then started a short foot chase together with several police officers.
On Monday around 11 a.m., police officers wanted to stop a driver in the 17th arrondissement to subject him to a routine check. But the driver accelerated and several patrol cars followed.
During the chase, the fugitive collided with at least ten parked cars.
During the further follow-up drive, the suspect allegedly rammed and damaged patrol cars. The man was eventually arrested in the area of Thaliastrasse, 16th arrondissement.
Continued to escape on foot
But the operation was far from over. The driver jumped out of his car and chased police on foot. However, he was arrested after a short escape.
It concerns a 29-year-old Turkish citizen. It was determined that he had an alcohol content of approximately one per mille and a small quantity of drugs was seized. During the operation, the suspect and an officer were slightly injured.
